Q. My 15 yr old daughter has gained 15lbs in the last 3 months. She has always been very thin. Now her skin is broken out and no prescription is helping clear it up. She has mood swings and sugar cravings. We had blood tests for thyroid and hormone deficiencies, but nothing showed up. What do you suggest? Show Answer
A. Your daughter is at an age when hormone changes run rampant. If she still gains weight in spite of a serious effort to eat healthy foods, no soda, no junk foods, a decent exercise program and 8-10 hours of sleep a night, I would certainly reconsider her hormone balance and look into thyroid and progesterone supplementation in addition to supplements.
