The group whose involvement would be most significant in countering the actions of Wyeth and other critics are practicing physicians who treat patients with bioidentical hormones. These doctors possess both the expertise and clinical experience that is missing in the current debate. This group does not have a direct financial stake in the issue and will bring valuable and insightful information.

A core group must be established to influence decision makers in Washington and the press. It will provide the expertise, education, medical education and scientific intelligence needed to elevate the bioidentical hormone debate.

Our goal is to build a physician group comprised of doctors experienced and clinically comfortable with the benefits of bioidentical hormones. This group will highlight the need to shift the focus to hormone solutions that not only work but are safe; bioidentical hormones. Goals of the group are to (1) promote and inform on the scientifically documented and clinically proven benefits of bioidentical hormones in order to counter balance our opponents' misinformation , (2) identify and expose financial conflicts of interest in the medical community and health organizations as it relates to bioidentical hormones (3) meet with key decision makers in Washington to dispel myths regarding bioidentical hormones (4) publicize all research on the benefits of bioidentical hormones as well as advocate for additional research(5) make the members of the group available as a resource to the news media, Congressional hearings, and other public forums to promote and educate on the benefits of bioidentical hormones. Most importantly, the main goal of this group is to provide the truth about bioidentical hormones and clarify the misinformation that is so prevalent. This can most effectively be done with physicians who have practical experience with bioidentical hormone therapies.

This effort will take time and financial resources. The potential reward is tremendous. We cannot let our opponents lead the way and suppress the truth about bioidentical hormones. Practicing physicians must take the center stage and control the debate and respond to misinformation about bioidentical hormones.
